Daniel tells the story of God’s Old Testament people exiled in a hostile empire. 

Again and again, God tells his people that he is in control, that he will rescue them, and that his kingdom never ends. God shows his prophet Daniel how every earthly kingdom will fall and how one day he will bring his people home—not, ultimately, to the land of Israel but instead to the eternal kingdom he will give to them, where evil will be no more.
